Health Arts Network at Duke (HAND) has an opening for a 20 hr a week part-time contract position as Program Assistant to support a 30-year old ‘arts in health’ program at Duke Medicine in Durham, NC. S/He will have an appreciation of the arts and is interested in serving an innovative and dedicated team that provides art to patients and staff at Duke. The program assistant will provide administrative and occasional hands-on support for the visual, performing and literary arts programs. S/He will assist the overall program with clerical and bookkeeping responsibilities. The position will also provide public relations and marketing efforts by updating website information, creating fliers and maintaining bulletin boards.
Qualifications: Strong organization and time management skills. Excellent with oral and written communication. Appreciation and experience in the arts a plus. Self-motivated and a team player. Solid typing and computer skills - Microsoft Office essential. Experience with basic bookkeeping. Background in public relations helpful. Knowledge or willing to learn Photoshop, Dreamweaver and Re:Discovery (an arts catalogue database). Able to multi-task and be flexible. Competitive salary. No benefits.

Health Arts Network at Duke (HAND) is looking for a self-motivated and innovative person for the part-time contract position of Performing Arts Coordinator. This person will be part of a dedicated and collaborative team that has delivered arts to Duke Medicine in Durham, NC since 1978.
The performing arts coordinator will manage and implement a schedule of performers for hospital units, in lobbies and waiting areas, and for hospital-wide events. The coordinator will build relationships between hospital staff and performers. S/He will recruit, train, schedule, support and evaluate professional performing artists who play for Duke patients, guests and staff and will oversee and mentor HANDS, the student volunteer arts organization. The position will also coordinate the performing arts component for designated Duke Medical Center events.
Qualifications: Must have experience with event management or coordinating artists. Strong organization and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple details. Appreciation, knowledge of and experience with the performing arts in the triangle area. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Self-motivated and a team player. Creative, efficient and a good sense of humor. Flexible and creative problem-solver. Experience working in a health care environment a plus. Has a home PC computer. Knowledge of Microsoft Office a must. Experience with Photoshop a plus. Has or is willing to obtain his/her own liability insurance.
