Peacherine Ragtime Society Orchestra | Peacherine Ragtime Society Orchestra (Virtual Showcase 1C): Meet the Peacherine Ragtime Society Orchestra, “the premier American Ragtime ensemble,” as hailed by the Washington Post, as they take you on a musical time machine back to the fun and excitement of the early 20th century. Tap your feet to the syncopated stylings of the early 1900s—from tongue-in-cheek vocal numbers to the classics of Scott Joplin and George Gershwin and even pop favorites by The Beatles and Queen. Watch classic silent films underscored by a live twelve-person orchestra with live music and sound effects! It's a program sure to make both young and old smile from ear to ear. Grab your bowler hat and suspenders, park your Model T down the street, and enjoy a trip back in time with Peacherine! Programming options include concerts featuring music from the Great American Songbook, silent film programs with live orchestra (including the films of Buster Keaton, Charlie Chaplin, Harold Lloyd, Laurel & Hardy, and others), Halloween and Christmas programs, and Arts in Education programs available both in-school and in your PAC. Residencies, masterclasses, and lectures/demonstrations are also available. Photos by: Peacherine Ragtime Society Orchestra. Check out Peacherine Ragtime Society Orchestra |
Barron Ryan Trio | Barron Ryan Trio (Virtual Showcase 2C): What good is art in the remembrance of grief? Some may say that offering music in response to an historic atrocity isn’t enough. But to Barron Ryan (named one of Ten Innovators To Watch in 2021 by Smithsonian Magazine), a musical composition seemed just the right commemoration of the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre. Because despite the many years that had passed, his hometown of Tulsa, OK, and the country in which it sits were still fractured. The communities didn't just argue about what to do in response to historic evils; they weren’t even trying to understand one another. So Ryan wrote There Arises Light in the Darkness. It’s meant to assure all who grieve that someone understands their pain. It’s also meant to show that despite suffering even as great as the Tulsa Race Massacre, there’s still reason for hope. This virtual showcase will include an excerpt from the first movement of this work for violin, cello, and piano. On tour, the entire 40-minute composition will be accompanied by songs from around the world that people have used to find hope amidst sorrow. Photo By: Henry Ninde. Check out the Barron Ryan Trio |
Jessica Fichot | Jessica Fichot (Showcase C9): Accompanied by her accordion, toy piano, and fiery band (clarinet, guitar, and upright bass), Los Angeles-based chanteuse and songwriter Jessica Fichot draws from her multi-ethnic French, Chinese, and American heritage. She creates an intoxicating mix of chansons, 1940s Shanghai jazz, gypsy swing, and international folk. Jessica has performed at concert halls, festivals, and clubs in China, Singapore, Mexico, Canada, and across the U.S. and Western Europe. Jessica offers three exciting shows: "From Paris to Shanghai," "Holidays Around the World,” and “新春 New Spring.” From French chanson to international folk, she effortlessly sings in French, Mandarin Chinese, English, Spanish, and more. Jessica and her band perform many audience participation songs that engage listeners of all ages. Drawing from her experience as a children's songwriter for global ESL programs and a composer of video game music, she and her band have delighted school students with multilingual call-and-response songs, interactive video game classics, and lively up-tempo tunes. They are in high demand for outreach programs and multi-day residencies, including a weeklong residency in North Carolina in March 2026. Get ready for an inclusive and immersive experience that bridges cultures and generations! Photo by Diego Ruvalcaba. Check out Jessica Fichot |
